In the evening we started again for Sirinugger. Found ourselves, according to sailing directions, at anchor this morning, or in other words, tied to an upright stick, at Wentipore, on the left bank of the river, where there were some old ruins to be seen. The architecture we found very similar to the Pandau temple.
The groups of different nations, and their manners and customs while bivouacking, were most picturesque, and served to amuse and interest us for the entire day. Started early by boat, in the fond expectation of reaching Sirinugger in the evening. Dusk, however, found us no farther than the ruins of Wentipore, and we only reached the capital at daylight in the morning.
