This is a craggy height running up in a conical form to a point, called by us Orthopagus; at the foot of it is the river Morius and the temple of Apollo Thurius. The god had his surname from Thuro, mother of Chaeron, whom ancient record makes founder of Chaeronea.
'A thuro sojer, says McKinley. 'Suppose th' sociable lasted all night? he says. 'I'd sound th' rethreat at daybreak, an' have me brave boys change back, he says, 'to suitable appar'l, he says. 'Masterly, says McKinley. 'I will sind ye'er name in as a brigadier-gin'ral, he says. 'Thank Gawd, th' r-rich, he says, 'is brave an' pathriotic, he says.
This is a rough summit and a conical-shaped hill, named Orthopagus; and under it is the stream of the Morius and a temple of the Thurian Apollo. The deity has this name from Thuro, the mother of Chæron, who is said to have been the founder of Chæroneia.
