Louis at which place we arived about 12 oClock. we Suffered the party to fire off their pieces as a Salute to the Town. we were met by all the village and received a harty welcom from it's inhabitants &. here I found my old acquaintance Majr.
A type entry in Washington's diary is, "Went to the play in the evening sent tickets to the following ladies and gentlemen and invited them to seats in my box, viz: Mrs. King and lady, Majr. Butler and lady, Colo Hamilton and lady, Mrs. Green all of whom accepted and came except Mrs. Butler, who was indisposed."
