Luke v. 17-26: Et factum est in una dierum et ipse sedebat docens.... Et ecce viri portantes in lecto hominem, qui erat paralyticus, et quaerebant eum inferre... et non invenientes qua parte illum inferrent prae turba,... per tegulas... summiserunt illum cum lecto in medium ante Jesum. Quorum fidem ut vidit, dixit, Homo, remittuntur tibi peccata tua.

Various repetitions of laws occur which are inexplicable on the supposition that these laws were all written by the hand of one person. Thus in Exodus xxxiv. 17-26, there is a collection of legal enactments, all of which can be found, in the same order and almost the same words, in the twenty-third chapter of the same book.

The crowds so pressed upon Jesus that he was forced to withdraw to the desert for rest; and as the scene closed he who had startled the multitude by the manifestation of his divine power was left alone seeking help from God in prayer. Jesus Forgiving Sins. Ch. 5:17-26

Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. MATT. v. 17-26. This passage falls naturally into two parts the former extending from verse 17 to 20 inclusive; the latter, from verse 21 to the end.

And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day. LUKE v. 17-26. Luke describes the composition of the unfriendly observers in this crowd with more emphasis and minuteness than the other Evangelists do.
