The oldest portion, called in the fifteenth century Altnürnberg, consisted of the Fünfeckiger Thurm the Five-cornered tower the rooms attached and the Otmarkapelle. The latter was burned down in 1420, rebuilt in 1428, and called the Walpurgiskapelle. These constituted the Burggräfliche Burg the Burggraf's Castle.
