Courtesy and preparedness to receive the unknown message beautifully blend in Cornelius's closing words, which do not directly ask Peter to speak, but declare the auditors' eagerness to hear, as well as their confidence that what he says will be God's voice. A variant reading in verse 33 gives 'in thy sight' for 'in the sight of God, and has much to recommend it.
