Generally, those who advocated the restoration of the Jewish Sabbath were decidedly of opinion that believers only were fit subjects for baptism, and that the scriptural mode of administering it was by immersion; hence they were called Seventh-day Baptists Sabbatarians, or Sabbath-keepers. Bunyan entered with very proper and temperate zeal into this controversy.
