Among verses described as "said by Brihaspati" occur the following remarkable lines: "There is no heaven, no liberation, nor any soul in another world, Nor do the acts of the âśramas or castes produce any reward. Such acts as the Jyotishtoma sacrifice and the knowledge inculcated in the Vedanta-texts are alike of the nature of conciliation of the Supreme Person; through whom thus conciliated man obtains all that is beneficial to him, viz. religious duty, wealth, pleasure, and final Release. The Ekadasaratra sacrifice was performed by me eleven times. The great sacrifice of Jyotishtoma was performed by me a hundred times.
