IV. The fourth general, which is here observable, is, that he is not only called "Truth," but "the Truth," as he is the way and the life; and not only true, but truth in the abstract. Which saith, That he is every way Truth, however we consider him, as God, or as Mediator. That all truth is in him; all truth of salvation for us is to be found in him.

From this point to the period of his mission tours: 1835-75. From the beginning to the close of these tours: 1875-92. From the close of his tours to his death: 1892-98. Thus the first period would cover twenty years; the second, ten; the third, forty; the fourth, seventeen; and the last, six.

The fourth day of our delectable excursion brought us to an ancient town whose name you would recall in an instant if I were fool enough to mention it, and where we were to put up for the night.

After the second century the comparison of the Christians to modern revolutionists becomes too absurd for discussion. There is a good deal of rhetorical declamation about riches and poverty in the Christian Fathers; but unfortunately the Church seems to have done very little to protest against the crying economic injustices of the fourth and fifth centuries.

In the height of this work my fourth year expired, from the time I was cast on this island, At this time I did not forget my anniversary; but kept it with rather greater devotion than before. There was something so humane, so kindly, so civilized about it all! "I love England," I said, and that first impression balanced the scale many a time later when I did not love her. The third or fourth day brought an invitation to dine at a famous house on Grosvenor Square with a duke! I pestered my husband with questions. What should I wear? What should I talk about? He just laughed.

The archduke's front was smashed at Rudnik early in June, 1915; his forces were driven back a day's march and lost 4,000 men in prisoners, besides many guns. The Second, Third and Fourth Tyrolese regiments were almost annihilated. German troops were hurried to the rescue. Boehm-Ermolli also got into serious difficulties at Mosciska, where the Russians held him up for a week with a furious battle.
