To me it seems that without a supernational army, under the direct orders of the League, it might under conceivable circumstances become impossible to uphold the decisions of the tribunal, and that, on the other hand, the coexistence of such a military force with national armaments would condemn the undertaking to failure.
A distinction and association, or an inference, is a direct experience, a sensible fact; but it is the experience of a process, of a motion between two terms, and a consciousness of their coexistence and distinction; it is a feeling of relation.
In only one of our cases was catalepsy definitely present without resistiveness, and in one other a “tendency to catalepsy” was noted without muscular rigidity being observed. III. Faith the light in every stage of Christian progress. I. Faith our light in the darkness of the world. All narrower inductions got by simple enumeration are unsafe, till, by the application to them of the four methods, the supposition of their falsity is shown to contradict this law, though it was itself arrived at by simple enumeration. Besides uniformities of succession, which always depend on causation, there are uniformities of coexistence.
