Oh, how many seas round about me, what dawning human futures! And above me what rosy red stillness! What unclouded silence! The next day sat Zarathustra again on the stone in front of his cave, whilst his animals roved about in the world outside to bring home new food, also new honey: for Zarathustra had spent and wasted the old honey to the very last particle.

And he had added a dozen more items to the lengthening list of what Zarathustra could now produce in adequate quantities and no longer needed to import. Not fishhooks and boot buckles, either blasting explosives and propellants, contragravity-field generator parts, power tools, pharmaceuticals, synthetic textiles.

In the 5th Gatha it is stated that among those who "know the right paths, the law which Ahura gave to the Profitable," is Pourutschista the "Holy worthy of adoration among the daughters of Zarathustra.... wise female worker of Wisdom." Ormuzd, or Ahura Mazda, which was the essence of heat or light, was the principle adored by the followers of the reformed religion in Persia.

He is in MY domain: therein shall he receive no scath! And verily, there are many evil beasts about me." With those words Zarathustra turned around to depart. Then said the soothsayer: "O Zarathustra, thou art a rogue! I know it well: thou wouldst fain be rid of me! Rather wouldst thou run into the forest and lay snares for evil beasts! But what good will it do thee?

Not being capable of elevating himself high enough or falling low enough to reign over the lives of men, he lives or rather vegetates with a keen feeling of his mediocrity, which makes him despair. And the pitiless words of Zarathustra ring in his ears: "If your life is not successful, if a venomous worm is gnawing at your heart, know that death will succeed."

Even the oldtimers who'd been on Zarathustra since the first colonization said so. There'd be some simple explanation, of course; something that would amaze him at his own obtuseness for not having seen it at once. Maybe the abnormally dry weather had something to do with it. Or increase of something they ate, or decrease of natural enemies.

What is that to Zarathustra! Clear shall your eye tell me: free to what? "Canst thou give to thyself thy good and thine evil, and hang thy will above thee as thy law? Canst thou be thine own judge, and avenger of thy law? "Fearful it is to be alone with the judge and the avenger of thy law. So is a stone flung out into empty space and into the icy breath of isolation.

Where shall I take refuge? What country gives shelter to the master, Zarathustra, and his companion? None of the servants pay reverence to me, nor do the wicked rulers of the country. How shall I worship thee further, living Wise One? What help did Zarathustra receive when he proclaimed the truths?

Thou, however, O Zarathustra, passedst him by, and saidst: 'Nay! Nay! Three times Nay! Thou warnedst against his error; thou warnedst the first to do so against pity: not every one, not none, but thyself and thy type. Thou art ashamed of the shame of the great sufferer; and verily when thou sayest: 'From pity there cometh a heavy cloud; take heed, ye men!

But the moon still revolveth around all that is earthly: so revolveth also the prince around what is earthliest of all that, however, is the gold of the shopman. The God of the Hosts of war is not the God of the golden bar; the prince proposeth, but the shopman disposeth! By all that is luminous and strong and good in thee, O Zarathustra! Spit on this city of shopmen and return back!
