Miss Repplier's description of her own lack of youthful interest in things sexual is of value simply as applied to a limited number of extra-protected girls. Her experience teaches us nothing regarding boys or even girls under average conditions. We know beyond any doubt that average children in or near adolescence do seek the kind of information that Miss Repplier denies having thought about.

What blissful meetings have been appointed, what scribblings of pain and sorrow, out of those founts of common speech. I remember, too, a certain pleasant vibration when, signing my name one day in the Bellevue's book, I found Miss Agnes Repplier's autograph a little above on the same page. I cannot quite believe she gives cats credit for the capacity for affection which they really possess, but her description of "Agrippina" is charming:

What became of these most interesting cats, is only hinted at; Miss Repplier's sincere grief at their loss is evident in the following: "Every night they retired at the same time and slept upon the same cushion, curled up inextricably into one soft, furry ball.

There is much in Miss Repplier's paragraphs which will win hearty approval from those who have come to believe, as advocated throughout this series of lectures, in conservative teaching of sex-hygiene and a larger outlook for sex-education.

On the whole, we must regard Miss Repplier's discussion as a helpful contribution to the saner aspects of sex-education. A Plea for Religious Approach to Sex-instruction He agrees with the sex-education writers that children should be instructed early, and as far as possible by their parents; but he wholly disagrees with the method of biological introduction.
