Cicero also defended Varenus, who was charged with having murdered his brother, and one Caius Mustius, of whom we only know that he was a farmer of taxes.
This has caused some of the critics to attribute it to other authors, as Pliny the younger and Quintilian, who were known to be Ciceronianists.
