Anne, the eldest daughter of Sir John Harrison, of Balls, in the county of Hertford, by Margaret, daughter of Robert Fanshawe, of Fanshawe Gate Esq., great uncle of Sir Richard Fanshawe, was born in St. Olave's, Hart Street, London, on the 25th of March 1625. Of her education and early life she has given a pleasing description, and, until the Civil War, her family lived in uninterrupted happiness.

"Why, just his having a multitude of acquaintance," replied Dr. Johnson, "and ne'er a friend." See ante, ii. 228. Dr. Gisborne, Physician to his Majesty's Household, has obligingly communicated to me a fuller account of this story than had reached Dr. Johnson. The affected Gentleman was the late John Gilbert Cooper, Esq., author of a Life of Socrates, and of some poems in Dodsley's Collection.

It was addressed to "John Delamere, Esq., as Executor of my Last Will and Testament," while the lower left hand corner bore the direction: "To be delivered only after my death, with seal unbroken." The seal was broken already; Mr. Delamere was dead; the letter could never be delivered. Mrs. Carteret unfolded it and read:

Several rocky gullies were passed, that were full of palm trees. The valley of Palm-tree Creek extends about nineteen miles from west to east The ranges which bound it to the south, I called "Lynd's Range," after my friend R. Lynd, Esq. Gilbert's Range bounds it to the northward: Middle Range separates the creek from the Dawson up to their junction.

At the base of the rock are the sugar Houses. On a neighboring upland lies the negro village, in the rear of which are the provision grounds. Samuel Bernard, Esq., the manager, received us kindly. He said, he had been on the island forty-four years, most of the time engaged in the management of estates.

The following letter, connected with this tour of Mr. Hope's, is also very instructive as to a particular phase of the movement: The Rev. Dr. Pusey to J. R. Hope, Esq.

While I have been writing this, Ivy Geer, light of heart, fleet of foot, and firm of will, has passed over hill-side, through wood-path, and across meadow-land, and drawn near the domains of Felix Clerron, Esq. Light of heart perhaps I scarcely ought to say.

Susan Shipp married V.Q. Johnson, Esq., of Virginia. Descendants of John Fulenwider and Lavinia Forney were: 1. John M. Fulenwider married Frances Hudson, of Alabama. Eliza Fulenwider married L.M. Rudisill, Esq., of Catawba county, N.C. Robert Fulenwider married Mary Sellers of Alabama. Daniel Fulenwider married Mary Ann Leslie of Alabama. Jane Fulenwider married Joshua Kirby, of Alabama.

Extract of a Letter from His Excellency Robert Johnson, Esq., Governor of South Carolina, to Benjamin Martyn, Esq., Secretary to the Trustees, &c. CHARLESTOWN, Feb. 12, 1733. Sir I have received the favor of yours, dated the 20th of October, and the duplicate of the 24th.

John Salmon, Esq. to whom we are happy to acknowledge our indebtedness for the subjoined account, is an old gentleman of respectability and good standing in society; and is at this time a resident in the town of Groveland, Livingston county, New-York.
