That the proclamation in Rymer's Foedera against Jane Shore, for plotting with the marquis Dorset, not with lord Hastings, destroys all the credit of Sir Thomas More, as to what relates to the latter peer.

Of such a kind are the various monastic cartularies, law-books like Glanvill's, records like the Patent, Close, and Charter Rolls, collections of letters, and modern collections of documents like T. Rymer's Foedera or J.H. Round's Calendar of Documents Preserved in France. The Conquest had no effect on its language, and it continued to be written in English until the end.

His Coins. "Rex Persidis, longaevus ille Sapor, post imperatoris Juliani excessum et pudendse pacis icta foedera . . . irqectabat Armeniae manum." Amm. Marc, xxvii. 18. The successful issue of Sapor's war with Julian and Jovian resulted in no small degree from the attitude which was assumed by Armenia soon after Julian commenced his invasion.

It appears from Rymer's Foedera, that the very first act of Richard's reign is dated from quadam altera camera juxta capellam in hospitio dominae Ceciliae ducissae Eborum. It does not look much as if he had publicly accused his mother of adultry, when he held his first council at her house.

Non hoec in foedera was the natural reflection of numbers of those who most sympathised with the Tractarian school.

Brendan, the Treaty of Windsor was concluded, which was really a compromise, and yet remained the true law of the land for four hundred years. It may be seen in Rymer's "Foedera."

This unexpected assistance was the publication of Rymer's "Foedera," at the expense of the British Government. This book was of infinite value to Rapin in enabling him to proceed with his history. He was also able to compare the facts stated by English historians with, those of the neighbouring states, whether they were written in Latin, French, Italian, or Spanish.

Extracts from various archives are found in such collections as RYMER's Foedera of which the Record Commission's edition in folio reaches just beyond the end of this period; WILKINS'S Concilia , containing many extracts from episcopal registers and canons of councils; HADDAN and STUBBS'S Councils, vol. i.

Innocent III, Epp. xvi. 133. Walter of Coventry, ii. 210. Rymer, Foedera, i. 120. The king of France may have been acting, as he would have the world believe, as the instrument of heaven to punish the enemy of the Church, but he did not learn with any great rejoicing of the conversion of John from the error of his ways.
