In 1899, with a fund of two hundred and fifty dollars, Lady Gregory, William Butler Yeats, G.W. Russell, and other playwrights and patrons succeeded in establishing in Dublin the Irish Literary Theater now known as the Irish National Theater. The object of this theater is twofold. In the first place, it aims to produce "literary" plays, not the vapid, panoramic kind that merely pass away the time.

"You'd better study the part of Lola learn the lines," said he, when he had finished his reflecting. "Then this day week at the same hour we will begin. We will work all afternoon we will dine together go to some theater where I can illustrate what I mean. Beginning with next Wednesday that will be the program every day until further notice."

" You must both go with me to the theater before you go." " Certainly," said Drouet. " Eh, Carrie?" " I'd like it ever so much," she replied. Hurstwood did his best to see that Carrie won the money. He rejoined in her success, kept counting her winnings, and finally gathered and put them in her extended hand.

In vain do they, too, strive to conceal their scars: we detect under the crowns and titles they assume the brand of the slave or the mark of the tyrant. I. The Convention. The Convention. The "Plain." The "Mountain." Degradation of Souls. Parades which the Convention is obligated to make. At the Tuileries, the omnipotent Convention sits enthroned in the theater, converted into an Assembly room.

This was not his fault; he had once set out to establish himself with such a theater of effort, but Senator Hanway put down his foot. "No; no office, John!" said that statesman. Then Senator Hanway, who was as furtive as a mink, called Mr. Harley's attention to the explanation which a narrow world would give.

He spurred the horse to furious, exhausting speed, guiding him wildly around the mountain theater. Again and again they circled the grassy arena, till foam and lather whitened the broncho's flank, chest, and mouth, and his nostril burned red as living flame. When at last the animal, weary and undone, would have sobered down to a trot or walk, Van forced him anew to crazy speed.

About ten o'clock, J. Wilkes Booth, a young actor twenty-six years of age, and very handsome, glided along the corridor towards that box. Being himself an actor and well known by the employees of the theater, he was suffered to proceed without hindrance.

The line F G H, by its extended position, and the bend on the flank of the enemy, always protects the communications with the base C D; and this is exactly the maneuvers of Marengo, Ulm, and Jena. "When the theater of war does not border upon the sea, it is always bounded by a powerful neutral state, which guards its frontiers and closes one side of the square.

All the vast theater of the stand was a buzz of eager chatter. Verily it was a race; it was the Brooklyn Handicap. Lips that smiled gave a mocking lie to drawn, strained faces, and nervous, shifting eyes, that told of the acceptance of too deep a hazard. The weeks and months of mental speculation embodied in heavy bets would have their fruit ripened and plucked within a brief half hour.

"And what's worth while?" rejoined she. "Why, whatever one happens to want." To avoid any possible mischance to the grande toilette he served the dinner and did the dangerous part of the clearing up. They went to the theater, Rod enjoying even more than she the very considerable admiration she got.
