Thus Salisbury has indicated the palmella gemiasma, which is found with us in places perfectly free from malaria, while it is often wanting in malarious marshes in the center of Italy; Balestra, a species of alga which is as yet indeterminate; Bargellini, the palmogloea micrococca; Safford and Bartlett, the hydrogastrum granulatum; and Archer, the chitonoblastus oeruginosus.

A committee was appointed to draft a constitution and by-laws which reported at an adjourned meeting on the 6th, when they were adopted and the following officers for the State Equal Suffrage Association were elected: President, Miss Safford, Orlando; first vice-president, Mrs. C. J. Huber, Webster; second, Mrs.

It is the same with Safford, who, at the age of ten, used to do in his head, without ever making a mistake, multiplication-sums the result of which ran into thirty-six figures. The solution presents itself authoritatively and spontaneously; it is a vision, an impression, an inspiration, an intuition coming one knows not whence, suddenly and indubitably.

In these upper Gila communities the Mormons have created a veritable garden, where careless cultivation had been known. Graham County was created by the Arizona Legislature in the spring of 1881, the settlement south of the Gila theretofore having been in Pima County. Safford BARONESS SOPHIE VON BRANDENSTEIN, nee EBERS.

When, some thirty years ago, the extraordinary young mathematician, Truman Henry Safford, first attracted the attention of New England by his rare powers, I well remember the pains that were taken to place him under instruction by the ablest Harvard professors: the greater his abilities, the more needful that he should have careful and symmetrical training.

Nathaniel F. Safford offered a resolution of thanks to Mr.

Safford was especially prominent in philanthropic work in Massachusetts, and it was said of her that at any hour of the day or night she could be found working in the slums of Boston. I, too, could frequently be found there often, no doubt, to the disadvantage of my patients. I was quite famous in three Boston alleys Maiden's Lane, Fellows Court, and Andrews Court.
