Gen. iii. 15, the promises made to Moses; Deut xviii. 15, the predictions made in Psa. xxii. 1, 8, 16, 18, in which his cry on the cross, the taunt of his enemies, the piercing of his hands and feet, and the parting of his raiment among the soldiers, were all predicted. Indeed, no prophecy preceding the time of Isaiah ix. 6 could be allowed to refer to Christ, on the assumption of the critic.
"The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest <i>know</i> his will." Acts 22:14. "Not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, <i>doing</i> the will of God from the heart." Eph. 6:6. "I <i>delight</i> to do thy will, O my God" Psa. 40:8. It is our privilege to daily <i>know</i> the will of God. It is our duty to daily <i>do</i> it.

"The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away." Psa. 90:10.
Satan, and his colleagues, self-blinded, suppose that they can war with and overcome even Christ and His hosts of saints; and, determined to do this: "the kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against His Anointed." Psa. ii. 2.
