As wisdom is easy to him that understandeth, so is Christ’s yoke easy, and his burden light, to those that are well acquainted with it, and have good experience of it: “When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shall not stumble,” Prov. iv. 12: this is spoken of the way of wisdom.

For many, by so doing, defer this to do till the day of God's patience and long-suffering is ended; and then, for their prayers and cries after mercy, they receive nothing but mocks, and are laughed at by the God of heaven; Prov. i. 20-30; Isaiah lxv. 12-16; chap. lxvi. 4; Zech. xii. 11-13.

For the Falkland Islands, I am indebted to Capt. The temperature of Dublin is taken from Barton. Agueros, Descrip. Hist. de la Prov. de Chiloe, 1791, p. 94. See the German Translation of this Journal; and for the other facts, Mr. On the Cordillera of central Chile, I believe the snow-line varies exceedingly in height in different summers.

A duty very clear in the scriptures; Judges v. 23; 1 Chron. xii. 1, 18; Neh. iv. 14; Prov. xxiv. 11, 12. But alas! how little conscience hath been made of this duty? "We have suffered many of our brethren in many parts of the land to be oppressed of the common enemy, without compassion or relief.

For if some are indispensably bound at certain times to give them, surely others who need them are as much bound to receive them, Prov. viii. 33, x. 17, and xxix. 1.

Today there is so much dope being taken. It is a terrible thing to abuse one's body. God will not hold a person guiltless who abuses his body in any manner. Read Prov. 23:29-32. God has deliverance for all who get into this sin if they will only seek after God. But my dear grandson, flee from all of it. "Touch not the cup." Never even taste it and you will never be a drunkard.

"I am a temperance worker in one of the districts of London, and would like to know whether you conclude by your former assertion concerning the early Christians that the Bible does not speak against wine drinking?" "Not in a single place. How could it do so consistently?" answered the Devil's expert. "Will you please turn to Prov. 20:1.

"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." And again, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness;" Prov. xxviii. 13; 1 John. i. 9. First, In the promise of pardon, "he shall have mercy;" he shall have his sins forgiven.

Here that is to be seen, "that the hand of the diligent maketh rich; and the field of the slothful is soon grown over with thorns and nettles; so that poverty cometh as one that travaileth, and want as an armed man," Prov. xxiv. 30. It is a sinful tempting of God, to think to be sanctified another way than God hath in his deep wisdom condescended upon.
