A.E. Armstrong, of the Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church of Canada, who was on a visit to Korea at the time: "The tortures which the Koreans suffer at the hands of the police and gendarmes are identical with those employed in the famous conspiracy trials.

Phila. "He writes from a new angle with great ability." Luth. Church Her. "Should do much good." REV. F. HAMILTON, Pyongyang, Korea. "I count your book a remarkably strong one. After foreign countries have helped us to suppress internal disturbances, they will select a man of the type of Li Wang of Korea, who betrayed his country to Japan, and make him Emperor of China. Together with South Korea, we must advance peace talks with North Korea and bridge the Cold War's last divide. Yuan Shih-kai's career falls into two clear-cut parts, almost as if it had been specially arranged for the biographer; there is the probationary period in Korea, and the executive in North China.

Some say we should give up the struggle for peace, and others say we should have a war and get it over with. That's a terrible statement. I had heard it made, but they want us to forget the great objective of preventing another world war the objective for which our soldiers have been fighting in the hills of Korea.
