The repugnances to this and that study which vex the ordinary teacher, are not innate, but result from his unwise system. I am informed by a traveller of the most undoubted veracity, that females of the highest classes, in some parts of Europe the daughters of Fellenberg, the Swiss educator, for example do not hesitate, at times, to engage in the athletic and healthy exercises of skating and coasting. I have even been told that the same remark might be applied, to some extent, to the females of the state of Maine.
