In a new constitution adopted at this time the word "citizen" was used instead of "man" and all legal disqualifications of women were removed. Both the men and women of Finland at last are free. The second country and the first independent Government in Europe to enfranchise women was Norway.
But who considers such slight blemishes, such moral pimples as these, disqualifications for entering into the most respectable society!
They had been chosen to be lieutenants, captains, and even colonels by their men because of faith in their ability to lead, or to recognize their influence in raising the troops.
