That remarkable character, Michael Servetus, the discoverer of the lesser circulation, when a fellow student with Vesalius at Paris, gave lectures upon judicial astrology, which brought him into conflict with the faculty; and the rarest of the Servetus works, rarer even than the "Christianismi Restitutio," is the "Apologetica disceptatio pro astrologia," one copy of which is in the Bibliotheque Nationale.

In a roundabout way, a new astrology has been suggested, which is not at all unlike Bacon's 'astrologia sana, though not based, as he proposed that astrology should be, on experiment, or tradition, or physical reasons.

I do ingenuously acknowledge, I used those prayers according to the form and direction prescribed for some weeks, using the word astrologia for astronomia; but of this no more: that Ars Notoria, inserted in the latter end of Cornelius Agrippa signifieth nothing; many of the prayers being not the same, nor is the direction to these prayers any thing considerable.

So that, upon the whole, we must register as needed, an astrology written in conformity with these principles, under the name of Astrologia Sana. Their wand'ring course, now high, now low, then hid, Progressive, retrograde, or standing still; Of such observations let a just astrology be formed; and according to these alone should schemes of the heavens be made and interpreted.
