The edition of Statius was published: and Gronovius, without receiving Grotius's letter , had made most of the remarks that were sent to him: Grotius, however, suspected Gronovius had perhaps been persuaded to pretend that he did not receive his letter, that he might be under no obligation of commending a man, whose name was odious to those in power.
