Every estancia, or farming estate, has one attached to it. The hovels of the Indians are thus called. Report of the Agricult. Chem. Assoc. in the Agricult. Gazette, 1845, p. 93. Linnaean Trans., vol. xi. p. 205. It is remarkable how all the circumstances connected with the salt-lakes in Siberia and Patagonia are similar.

The peace of 205 had been considered but a cessation of hostilities, and both people were therefore ready for a new war. Philip had made an alliance with Antiochus the Great, of Syria, against Ptolemy Epiphanes, of Egypt, who applied to Rome for assistance; and he had sent aid to soldiers to help Hannibal, who had fought at the battle of Zama.

At page 205 of the first volume of this work, I have described a butterfly which, when at rest, so closely resembles a dead leaf, that it thereby escape the attacks of its enemies. This is termed a "protective resemblance."
